The European Celestial Band is a marching band that was established in Europe at the end of 2006, following the founding of the Canadian and US Celestial Bands. It consists of 160 members from all walks of life, ranging from 7 to 70 years.

All musicians in the band are practitioners of Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, which is a peaceful Chinese meditation practice that has, since its introduction to the general public in 1992, attracted tens of millions of people in over 80 countries.

Falun Gong is a practice based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance. These principles are the nature of the universe, from which come forth the heavenly values of peace and goodheartedness. That is why the band is called Celestial Band.

These good principles stand in stark contrast to the Chinese communist regime which does not permit freedom of speech and belief. Since 1999, Falun Gong practitioners have been brutally persecuted by the Chinese communist regime. Many practitioners have been put in prisons and labor camps. Thousands of deaths by torture have been confirmed. Recently, disturbing news has surfaced that large scale structural organ harvesting of imprisoned Falun Gong practitioners has been and still is taking place today.

Some of the band members experienced brutal torture themselves. Others have relatives and friends who are still being persecuted by the regime. They have all come to join the marching band in order to let more people know about the true situation of Falun Gong.

With "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance" in their hearts, the Celestial Band members hope to convey through their music the goodness of Falun Dafa to all people.
